FAQ’s:
It is not possible to accommodate requests to schedule a paper or session for specific days or times. We respectfully ask you to understand that the schedule must be set with the assumption that Minitrack Chairs and Presenting Authors will be attending the conference the entire three days of paper sessions. Please make your travel plans to attend the conference at least those three days, 8am-5pm. Included in your registration fee are the Symposia, Workshops, and Tutorials which take place a day before the paper sessions. These sessions may supplement paper sessions later in the week, or offer new insights into other research areas.
For author: If your papers are accepted and you would like your paper to be included in the Proceedings, you or at least one of your co-authors must register by October 1.
For general participant: We strongly encourage all participants to complete the conference registration as early as possible so we can ensure that all of your registration requests/needs can be met.
The full conference registration fee covers your attendance at all conference sessions, symposia, workshops, tutorials, three lunches, refreshments, and social events. The conference does not provide breakfast and dinner.
Buffet lunches are available on paper presentation days. Chicken, fish, and vegetarian dishes are usually offered. We will do our best to honor your special dietary needs. Please provide information on your special dietary needs during the conference registration process.
Conference registration fee does not cover guest participation. Participants are not permitted to bring family and friends to attend any sessions, social events, or catering functions at any time and for any reason.
Should participants wish to bring guests, a welcome reception (Adult: $200, Child aged 5-11: $100), a closing reception (Adult: $200, Child aged 5-11: $100), or a full guest pass (Adult: $680, Child aged 5-11: $340) are available for purchase through HICSS Online Registration system.
A full guest pass covers 3 lunches, access to commons area with refreshment breaks, admission to all keynote addresses as well as social events. A full guest pass does not provide admission to any conference sessions.
Please complete and pay for your conference registration, then contact HICSS Conference Office via email at hicss@hawaii.edu to request an invitation letter. As visa requests can take several weeks, registrants are strongly encouraged to contact us at least 3 months prior to the conference (October 1).
Requests for refund or cancellation must be received in writing to hicss@hawaii.edu and are subject to the following schedule:
- Your registration fee will be refunded in full until November 15.
- From November 16 – December 1, we will deduct a $150 administrative fee from the amount paid.
- No refunds will be made after December 1.
- If registration is cancelled, your paper will not be published in the Conference Proceedings.
Hotel cancellations are subject to hotel’s cancellation policy and must be made directly with the hotel.
The presentation schedule will be published on HICSS website by December 5. Note that the schedule is subject to constant updates.
Although the paper sessions start on the second day of the conference, a full program of symposia, workshops, and tutorials is available on the first day starting at 9 AM. Symposia, workshops, and tutorials feature timely topics and latest developments in various research fields. We highly encourage you to attend these sessions.
Conference attire will be casual and comfortable. Meeting room temperatures may be cool. Layered clothing may provide the greatest comfort.
Free Internet access will be available for use by conference participants throughout the conference area and guest rooms.
Self-parking is complimentary for HICSS participants. Self-parking is available in the Lahaina parking lot located near the meeting space and luau. If this lot is full, there is a self-parking lot located to the left of the front drive. Please validate the parking tickets at the validation machine near the registration desk.
